Little information on the life of this artist can be found, other than he is listed as a student of the ukiyo'e artist Mizuno Toshikata 水野年方 (1866-1908) on Mizuno's memorial erected by his students in May 1923 and located in Kanda Myōjin Shrine grounds in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward. The National Diet Library records the artist as having designed several frontispieces and cover illustrations between 1896 and 1926 and we know that he designed a number of covers and frontispieces for the magazine Engei shashin in 1923 and 1924, as shown below.
